ABOUT

Hi, I’m Sarah!

I am the artist and creator behind Raining Joy Arts. I’ve lived in Denali Park, Alaska for 15 years. I have been a creative artist since grade school, following in my mother’s footsteps. Here in Alaska, I’ve made my living as a hiking guide, educator, and naturalist. I even tried the good ol’ office job for more years than I care to recall.

Here’s the thing, though. I live smack-dab in the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the world yet I was still finding myself caught up in my workday and to-do lists just like you. At one point in those office-job days, I couldn’t remember the last time I stopped to appreciate the nature around me. I had to make a change. As I’ve grown into myself, I can say that I need a close connection with the natural world and after all these years, still need the opportunity to be creative.

That’s when I decided, if you can’t get out into nature, then you’ve got to bring that nature TO YOU.  I pulled out my old paints and brushes and got to work creating bold and colorful nature-inspired art, right here in the heart of Alaska.

Now, when I need that “nature reminder” I’ll throw on some of my Dall Sheep earrings, send a Northern Lights notecard, or take just a moment to glance at a painting of the breathtaking Alaska Range. Nature may be the most restorative of all art, with its vibrant colors and textures, playful shapes, and the ability to connect us to places in time. These restorative qualities of nature are available to you, every day, when you are intentional about the reminders of your most authentic life.
